There's something I love: knowing that scoliosis is gaining more and more space in Brazil and worldwide with special events on the topic. Considering that I work 100% of my time on scoliosis awareness, realizing that spaces to discuss and present news from the scoliosis world are gaining strength makes me very happy. At the peak of my treatment when I was 12, there was no information about everything I was going through, and therefore, I felt completely unsupported. Today, I see this evolution and have the utmost certainty of the importance of discussing the topic with parents, patients, and healthcare professionals. As a journalist, I work for information. I work for you. I bring here everything new and important to share about scoliosis. And where do I learn more? Studying, talking, and participating in events about deformity, like the second edition of Scoliosis Day, which will take place in Campinas – São Paulo – on April 12th and 13th this year.
Without endorsing any specific physiotherapy school or taking sides, Scoliosis Day is a meeting that aims for information and discussion about scoliosis, entirely dedicated to those interested in better understanding the deformity and its complexity. It is a space for healthcare professionals to share knowledge, inspiring stories, and treatment strategies.
The hybrid event will feature lectures by renowned national and international experts, with question-and-answer sessions, and an exhibition of products and services related to spinal health. Among the speakers are Dr. Sabrina Donzelli (physician and researcher, active member and current president of SOSORT), Elisabetta D'Agatta (Italian psychologist specializing in the field of scoliosis), Dr. Olavo Letaif (orthopedic physician, full member of the Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology and the Brazilian Spine Society), Dr. Túlio Rangel (orthopedic physician, head of the spine surgery specialization at Getúlio Vargas Hospital), among many others.
The topics of the classes on both days of the event vary, covering subjects such as pre and postoperative aspects of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, when to choose surgery, sports and scoliosis, pain neuroscience, physiotherapeutic evaluation in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, and methods and strategies for early scoliosis detection.
I'll be there, for sure, learning more and more about this condition that I live with and sharing knowledge with everyone. You can also register by clicking here.
