It's now the law in Rio de Janeiro! Week of Scoliosis Prevention in public schools

Did you know that since April of this year, a law was passed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, creating the State Week of Scoliosis Prevention in public schools? This news is a significant victory for all of us who are advocating for genuine awareness regarding the early detection of scoliosis.

During this important week, which will take place annually at the end of June, there will be lectures and activities to highlight the challenges caused by scoliosis. Pretty cool, right?

This is the result of much hard work and persistence. After all, ten years ago, we planted a seed at the first Scoliosis Encounter, organized by the physiotherapist, Dr. Patrícia Mentges. At that event, the assistant to a deputy was with us, and we explained to her the importance of awareness in schools. Following that, Dr. Patrícia contributed to the development of two laws:

1 - Implementing scoliosis screening in schools through the Adams Test for children and adolescents (which hasn't been approved yet);

2 - The one that was recently approved concerning the awareness week in schools.

We are very happy with this achievement and hope to achieve much more throughout Brazil and not just in Rio de Janeiro.

Do you know another region (city, state, province, country, ...) that has a similar law? Please leave me a comment if you know.
