This is a question that not everyone finds pleasant because, typically, having a crooked spine isn't very easy. However, often what is challenging for one person isn't as much for another, right?
We know that scoliosis can lead to deformities, which can range from small to quite significant, depending on the degree, and this can make us view our bodies differently. But, as with everything in life, we can see the glass as half full or half empty. If we look at our crooked spine in a positive light, we'll understand that there's an opportunity for learning, that we will indeed face that challenge, and that we will emerge stronger. Keeping a positive perspective, we can transform ourselves into better individuals, with more resilience, determination, and empathy for others.
Of course, there's also the downside of having a back different from our friends. We may feel inferior at times, with low self-esteem and even embarrassed to wear tight clothing or a bikini.
For me, it's a mix of feelings. It's not always bad and not always good. Actually, being a Gemini, I change my mind every 3 seconds, hahaha. Seriously! Some days I look and think my back is okay. I see that my scar symbolizes everything I went through as a teenager. Other times, I think everything is terrible, and I hide in my clothes.
In the past, it was even worse. When I was younger, I cared more about other people's opinions and was harsher on myself. I even got a tattoo on the scar near my hip to hide it. One less, right, folks?
And how do you feel about your scoliosis? It's important to discuss the topic so that it's not a taboo in our lives!
